MLA / CE - Week 2: Wikis
I really enjoyed creating my first wiki (Bellwiki). I can’t believe I actually have a blog and a wiki!
Assignment: Blogs vs. Wikis
1. What is the difference between a blog and a wiki?
A blog is a type of website with entries or posts usually arranged in reverse chronological order. Some blogs are like personal online journals, while others focus on particular topics. Many blogs allow comments from readers. A Wiki, on the other hand, is a website where a number of users can collaboratively edit pages or add pages to the website.
2. Uses of blogs vs. wikis.
Blogs, I would use for promoting library resources, upcoming library events and programs, and for disseminating information about library conferences, etc. Wikis, on the other hand, I would use for collaborating with staff to develop courses, create and update health guides, and to develop research proposals. These would be private wikis.
