MLA /CE - Week 1

After a slow start, here are the RSS feeds I added to my Google Reader account:

BMJ current issue
BMJ recent issues
Health Canada: Advisories, Warnings and Recalls
MedWorm: Consumer Health News
PubMed: Asthma & Acupuncture
Web 2.0 101: Introduction to Second Generation Web Tools
Comments for Web 2.0

Assignment Questions:

1. How do you think you could use RSS feeds at your Library?

I believe subscribing to RSS feeds would be great for our library. For example, subscribing to RSS feeds such as “BMJ current issue” would help staff in creating and updating the various health guides we produce. Also, subscribing to such RSS feeds as “MedWorm: Consumer Health News” would assist staff in keeping abreast of current events/developments in the consumer health field.

2. How do you think patrons could use RSS feeds?

Patrons could use RSS feeds to keep up-to-date on various health topics for personal research and/or school assignments.
